about

The inspiration for this song came after my trip from IHOP-KC in May 2016 and also from Song of Solomon 5 and 7:12.

I went on this trip without my husband and alone with Evan, who was 22 months at the time, and despite all the help from others it was still physically and emotionally difficult. Although I expected the trip to be difficult, I also expected that God would minster to my spirit and give me rest. By day 2 out of 10, I was complaining and asking God why am I here? Somehow through the chaos, I heard the Holy Spirit say, from Philippians 3:10 “You are here because I want you to know Him more through the fellowship of His suffering”.

The Lord calls us to deeper intimacy by revealing Himself as the one who suffered in Gethsemane. He asks us to open our hearts “for Him” to experience new depths of intimacy with Him. As we respond in obedience he takes us through various tests. Will we seek God if He withholds the things we deeply desire? When we cannot feel His presence? We stay engaged with Jesus, and it is in the rigours of serving, setbacks, people being against you, things not working right, and the money does not come through in the way we think it should have, or the prophecy ends up unfolding very differently than we dreamed that it would, opposite of what we thought. “Oh, that is what that prophetic means.” It is there that we give Him our love.

When we focus on Jesus’s beauty we can get through the test praising God instead of complaining. Philippians 3:8 says “Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ.”

It is not the suffering that produces the glory. It is the response of our heart of faith, obedience, and love in the time of suffering. In the time of difficulty, we believe the Word of God, and we press into the heart of Jesus. We work that muscle of faith, that muscle of love, and we realign our heart to Him, a thousand times. And as we do this through the difficulty, our heart connects with God at a deeper level.

I pray that this song will inspire you to focus on Jesus and His crazy love for you as you go through the trials of this life.

lyrics

Verse 1:
When my strength in the wilderness begins to wane
When the dreams and prophesies foretold seem so faint
Here’s when, I will give you my love
When foundations of trust and faith start to shake
When tears of disappointment stream down my face
Here’s when, I will give you my love

Chorus:
Cause you see completely, you’re moved so deeply
That makes it worth it all
And knowing your inmost secrets through these seasons
Makes it worth it all

Verse 2:
When I’m restless through the dark night of the soul
What was once your warming presence seems so cold
Here’s when, I will give you my love
When I pour my heart out loving and get misunderstood
When I spend all my strength serving and get overlooked
Here’s when, I will give you my love

Bridge:
I lock eyes with your eyes of fire
Holy desire shines from your face
Every sacrifice I’ve made,
The pain just fades away
