Song Story:
The inspiration for this song came as I was watching the Azuza Now prayer rally in April 2016. It was the first time I heard Dutch Sheet’s sharing about appealing to Heaven. The following are excerpts from “The Next Great Move of God” by Jennifer LeClaire:

The revelation of making an appeal to heaven as it relates to taking back our nation for God was revealed to Dutch Sheets through several prophetic encounters. In one of the prophetic encounters Dutch was a boxer facing five giants in five rounds. Once he knocked out those giants with a single punch, alternating fists. One of the boxing gloves said “Everlast,” and the other glove said “Evergreen”. After walking through twenty-five years of struggles and mistakes waiting to see the promise of Isaac fulfilled, Abraham saw Jehovah as the Everlasting God who fulfills the past and precedes us into our future. The Everlasting God is the one who stood by Abraham even when he lied about Sarah being his sister. He stuck with him through the mess he made with Hagar and Ishmael. He is the one who delivered on the promise through faith despite it all. God is not going to send an awakening to our nation because we deserve it. We aren’t asking because we haven’t sinned or because we’re perfect. We are asking based on His mercy and His faithfulness and the fact that He is bigger than our mistakes. This is the revelation of “Everlast”.

In another prophetic encounter several years later, at a Christ for the nations graduation ceremony, one of his spiritual sons, pulled out a flag that George Washington flew over his naval ships before the United States of America was ever birthed. It was the banner America was born under – a white banner with an evergreen tree and the words “Appeal to Heaven”. He realized that God was saying that if we’re going to defeat the giants we need to tap into His eternal purpose. We’re going to have to tap into this synergy of the ages. Tapping into the synergy of the ages means to agree with the prayers of those in previous generations, including Founding Fathers, the historic revivalists and the great cloud of witnesses who left records of prayers of repentance and for revival in the Scriptures. Their prayers are not dead and this generation needs to come into agreement with what God has promised so that these prayers can be fulfilled.

When we wear the everlasting covenant glove and wear the evergreen covenant glove and reconnect to our roots in Him, God will come through for us! God will deliver those who cry out to Him steadfastly. He will respond to those who summon Him.

This song is an appeal to Heaven to see a Third Great Awakening.
